golden hour (2020)

This work was created as an experiment to explore the potential of using fluorescent acrylic panels in additive mixing in traditional media. By layering the transparent paint on top, the vibrant orange of the base material can be used to create higher chroma, especially with light passing through. When this piece is backlit, it creates an illusion of the direct afternoon sun passing through the windows and lighting up the figure from behind. The transparency of the shirt was kept so that some of the light would be able to pass through and produce a glow not dissimilar to light refracting through sheer fabric.
